Baker Visit to Fabric Discovery Center

Lowell – Governor Charlie Baker and Lt. Governor Karyn Polito joined UMass Lowell Chancellor Jacquie Moloney to tour UMass Lowell�s Fabric Discovery Center, a Manufacturing Emergency Response Team (M-ERT) funding recipient conducting high volume screening of locally produced personal protective equipment (PPE) for FDA approval.

The UMass Lowell Fabric Discovery Center is a public/private venture that provides a space for the development of innovative fabric manufacturing technologies. “Available to startups, small businesses and large companies, the 28,000 square foot, two and a half floor research center located in a renovated mill building at 110 Canal Street in Lowell inspires creativity and innovation.”

As part of its COVID-19 Pandemic response, the Baker administration has led an initiative to help local manufactures pivot towards PPE production.
