Eversource Hosting a Series of Community Conversations for Burlington-Woburn Supply Initiative

Eversource is developing a plan to upgrade electrical infrastructure in Burlington, Woburn and Wilmington. The Burlington-Woburn Supply Initiative will enhance the reliability and resiliency of the electrical network, so it continues to serve the needs of customers as demand continues to increase.
This project is a proposed new (second) electrical substation in Burlington connecting to the existing electrical distribution network, along with approximately 2.5 miles of new overhead transmission line and supporting structures in the existing rights-of-way running from the proposed new substation in Burlington through Wilmington into Woburn.
The second substation will tie into a set of transmission lines that travel through Burlington, adding a new source of power to the area. The existing substation on Middlesex Turnpike has reached its design and expansion capacity and Eversource forecasts demand for power will continue to rise over the coming years due to development and the movement to electrification.
In June 2023, Eversource hosted a series of community conversations about the project and is now hosting office hours, where people from the area can ask questions and learn more about the project, at the True North Coffee Shop (204 Cambridge Street) in Burlington. All are welcome and please RSVP by emailing [email protected] if you would like to attend. Please see the schedule below.
